Brian Wilson Facing Possible Conservatorship Due to Neurocognitive Disorder

1 Mins read

Reports have recently emerged that Brian Wilson, co-founder of the Beach Boys, may soon be placed under a conservatorship as a result of a “major neurocognitive disorder,” potentially dementia. On February 14, Wilson’s family filed for a conservatorship with the Superior Court of California, citing his inability to adequately care for his personal needs.

The musician, now 81 years old, had made some provisions regarding his affairs. His late wife, Melinda, who passed away on January 30 at the age of 77, had been named as his agent in an advance healthcare directive. She had been responsible for attending to his daily needs. However, with her passing, the recent court filing serves as a follow-up to the previous directive, as Wilson did not appoint a successor.

The family released a statement through their social media platform, explaining that this decision was made to ensure stability in their household. They want to ensure that Wilson and their children continue to be cared for in their family home by Gloria Ramos and the dedicated team who have been providing assistance for many years.

Ramos, identified as the housekeeper, will play a crucial role in maintaining the household. Family representatives LeeAnn Hard, Wilson’s agent for power of attorney, and Jean Sievers will serve as co-conservators.

This news regarding the possible conservatorship follows comedian and late-night host Jay Leno’s recent conservatorship filing on behalf of his wife, Mavis Leno, in order to facilitate estate planning.

Wilson’s court hearing has been scheduled for April 26, according to court documents.
