Market Update
U.S. Markets
Futures for the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average remained stagnant in early trading. It’s important to note that changes in futures don’t always indicate actual market movements once the trading day begins.
European Markets
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 saw a slight increase of 0.1% during morning trading. Gaztransport et Technigaz and abrdn experienced gains of 6.4% and 5.9% respectively. However, Eurofins Scientific and Zealand Pharma faced declines of 9.2% and 5.8% respectively. The FTSE 100 also saw a marginal rise of 0.1%. Meanwhile, stocks in France’s CAC 40 remained stable while Germany’s DAX edged up by 0.1%.
Currency and Commodities
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index dipped by 0.1% to 98.3. In the commodities market, Brent crude increased by 0.2% to $81.87 per barrel, while WTI crude climbed by 0.3% to reach $77.82 per barrel.
Bonds and Yields
The German 10-year Bund yield saw a decrease of 2 basis points to 2.425%, down from 2.447%. Similarly, the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury also dropped by 2 basis points to 4.264% from 4.283%. Remember, bond prices and yields have an inverse relationship.
Asian Markets
Stocks in Asia displayed mixed performances with Japan’s Nikkei 225 index remaining flat, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rising by 0.9%, and China’s Shanghai Composite climbing by 1.3%.
